Why it is not only for clinical staff
Most of the moments that decide whether somebody engages with a service happen before they meet a practitioner: the letter, the entrance, the question at the desk, the form and the wait.
Which framework we teach
Both. The course is built on the Trauma-Informed Wales Framework (2022) and the Office for Health Improvement and Disparities working definition (2022), with SAMHSA's 2014 guidance underneath both. We lead with the framework for your nation and cover the other, because staff and referrals move across the border.
Materials are in English
This course is delivered and supplied in English. It is not a bilingual pack, and we will not describe it as one. Where a Welsh language requirement applies, tell us at enquiry stage and we will quote for professional translation separately.
Who delivers it
Lisa Hibbert, an MNCPS accredited counsellor and BACP member with seventeen years supporting children, young people and families, including care-experienced young people, and with EMDR practitioner training and a BA (Hons) in Therapeutic Child Care. She manages a therapeutic service and is a director of a community counselling CIC. She is joined by Vivien Beni, a Registered Mental Health Nurse and Band 6 Looked After Children Practitioner in NHS CAMHS, who completed Trauma-Focused CBT training at Sussex University in 2024.
Assessment and evidence
Every delivery produces the paperwork an employer, a commissioner or an inspector will ask for. It is collected from the first course, not retrofitted later.
- Pre and post knowledge check, used to evidence learning gain
- Anonymous delegate evaluation, results shared with the commissioner
- Optional written reflective assessment for CPD or revalidation evidence
- Attendance register and individual certificates
- Attendance records retained for six years

What this course is not
It is not a therapy qualification and does not authorise anyone to deliver therapy. It does not accredit an organisation as trauma-informed, and no such accreditation is offered or implied. It does not replace safeguarding training, which is a separate requirement. We are explicit about all of this with delegates on the third slide.
