What ages does blip work with?

Blip Healthcare Ltd serves children, adolescents and young adults aged 7 to 25. The same multidisciplinary team covers the full age range, so there is no transfer or re-referral when a young person turns 18.

Is blip registered with the CQC?

Yes. Blip Healthcare Ltd is registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) for the regulated activity of Treatment of disease, disorder or injury. Registered Manager: Vivien Beni, Registered Mental Health Nurse.

Do I need a GP referral?

Accepted Answer

No. Families and young people aged 16 to 25 can refer themselves directly using the enquiry form at blip.org.uk. GPs, schools, social workers and other professionals can also refer on behalf of a young person using the referral form.

How quickly can we start?

A care navigator responds within one working day of your enquiry. Initial assessment takes place within 3 weeks of triage. First intervention sessions begin within 2 weeks of assessment. These are published quality targets.

What conditions do you work with?

Blip works with anxiety, depression and mood difficulties, emotional dysregulation, self-harm at low to moderate risk, emotionally based school avoidance, ADHD-related and autism-related emotional needs, family and relational difficulties affecting mental health, and transition-related difficulties.

How is blip different from seeing a private counsellor?

Blip provides a multidisciplinary team: a consultant psychiatrist, registered mental health nurses, CAMHS practitioners, an occupational therapist, a family therapist, therapists and youth support workers. Every case is reviewed at the weekly MDT. Clinical governance, safeguarding, outcome measurement and CQC registration sit behind every episode of care.

Is blip a crisis service?

No. Blip is a planned mental health service for children and young adults who do not need emergency or crisis care. If you or someone you know is in immediate danger, call 999. For urgent mental health support outside normal hours, call NHS 111 and select option 2.

Can a young person refer themselves?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Young people aged 16 to 25 can self-refer. The enquiry form on blip.org.uk has a route for self-referral. A care navigator will call to discuss the presenting difficulty before any clinical appointment is booked.
