Open courses, live online
Scheduled dates for individuals
Most of what we do is commissioned by a school or a service for its own team. These are the sessions you can join on your own, live online, in a small cohort, taught by clinicians who still hold the caseload.
Coming up
- Reserve a place
Thursday 15 October 2026, 9.30am to 12.45pm
Emotionally Based School Avoidance
EBSA separated from truancy and from withheld attendance, why avoidance grows, and how to build a graduated return plan that survives a bad week.
Half day, three hours of CPD. Live online. £95 per delegate.
- Reserve a place
Thursday 19 November 2026, 9.30am to 4.00pm
Trauma or Neurodiversity?
Two trainers, one from each specialism, because a single trainer reliably favours the side they trained in. Both wrong turns are covered at the same weight, including the one practitioners cause.
Full day, six hours of CPD. Live online. £165 per delegate.

Dates to follow
These also run as open sessions and have no date on the calendar yet. Tell us you want one and we will put you on the list for the next.
- KCSIE 2026 Annual Update
Two hours, twilight or an INSET slot. Live online. £45 per delegate.
How booking works
Tell us which date
One form, one working day for a reply. We confirm your place in writing, with joining instructions and the delegate handbook ahead of the session.
Small cohorts, on purpose
Every open course runs with a minimum of 6 delegates and a working maximum that keeps the room able to talk. If a date does not reach the minimum we move it and tell you well before, rather than running something that does not work.
You leave with the evidence
An individual certificate, your pre and post knowledge check, and an optional written reflective assessment for CPD or revalidation.
Free, one page
EBSA: the first fortnight
A one-page checklist for the two weeks after a child stops making it through the school gate, when what the adults do next decides how long this lasts.
- What to do in the first 48 hours, and the three things that make it worse
- The questions that find the actual trigger, and the ones that close a child down
- A simple return plan template, with the conditions that make it hold
Common questions
Who are the open online courses for?
Individuals rather than whole teams. One or two people from a setting, a practitioner paying for their own CPD, or anyone who wants to see how we teach before commissioning a day. If you have a team to train, in-house is almost always cheaper above about eight people and the content can be adapted to your setting.
What does an open course place cost?
A twilight is £45 per delegate, a half day is £95 and a full day is £165. That is the full published price and there is nothing added to it. Booking your whole team in house works differently and is usually cheaper above about eight people.
What happens if a date does not fill?
Open courses run with a minimum of 6 delegates. Below that we move the date and tell you in good time rather than running a session that does not work for the people in it.
How do I pay?
You do not pay on the website. Places are reserved by enquiry and confirmed in writing, and we invoice your organisation or arrange payment with you directly before the session runs.
Training a team rather than yourself?
A commissioned day at your site covers up to twenty people for one fee, and the case material can be rewritten to your setting. Tell us the course, the rough number and the term, and we will quote against your actual numbers. Or write to training@blip.org.uk.
