Safeguarding Children: Group B (Level 2)
The intermediate safeguarding course described at Annex C of the National Minimum Standards for Regulated Childcare, delivered in Wales, to the Wales Safeguarding Procedures.

The Group B day for people who work directly with children in registered childcare in Wales. Built to the Wales Safeguarding Procedures, not adapted from an English course.

What delegates will be able to do
- Describe the safeguarding structure in Wales and where they sit in it
- Name the categories of abuse and the signs that go with each
- Recognise risk before it becomes abuse, and act on it
- Respond properly in the first minute after a child discloses
- Record what they saw and heard so that it is usable later
- Make a report, and know the timescales they should expect
- Act on a concern about a colleague, including what protects them
- Explain what happens after a report, and their part afterwards

This is not the Group C course
Setting leaders, managers, persons in charge, childminders, designated safeguarding persons, responsible individuals and registered persons need Group C (Level 3), which is two days. They need Group B knowledge as well, not instead.
Welsh language
Blip's current trainer does not deliver fluently in Welsh. Where a booking requires Welsh medium delivery, Blip arranges a Welsh speaking associate trainer or a qualified interpreter, agreed in advance and at no additional cost to the participant.
Written materials are produced bilingually for Welsh Government funded contracts, professionally translated rather than machine translated, with Welsh given equal prominence. Tell us at enquiry stage if that applies to your contract.
Who delivers it
A Registered Mental Health Nurse with a live safeguarding caseload in NHS Wales CAMHS, working to the Wales Safeguarding Procedures and Part 7 of the Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act 2014. The trainer holds a PGCE alongside NMC registration, and delivers training to professionals as part of current practice.
Assessment and evidence
Every delivery produces the paperwork an employer, a commissioner or an inspector will ask for. It is collected from the first course, not retrofitted later.

- Optional written reflective assessment for CPD or revalidation evidence
- Attendance register and individual certificates
- Attendance records retained for six years
Fees
In-house delivery for your own team, at your site or online. Travel is included within Wrexham, Shropshire, Cheshire and Powys, and charged at cost beyond it. Where a commissioner funds a programme of courses, pricing is agreed for the programme rather than per course.

What this course is not
It is not Group C (Level 3). It does not qualify anyone to investigate a concern, assess a family or decide whether a threshold is met. It is not an English safeguarding course: Annex C is explicit that a course must reflect the Wales Safeguarding Procedures, and this one does.
