Safeguarding Children: Group B (Level 2), England
Intermediate, Level 2 safeguarding training for people who work directly with children in early years and childcare settings, built on Working Together and the EYFS framework.

The English edition of the Level 2 day, built on Working Together to Safeguard Children 2026 and the EYFS safeguarding and welfare requirements in force from 1 September 2026.

What delegates will be able to do
- Describe the safeguarding structure in England and where they sit in it
- Name the categories of abuse and the signs that go with each
- Recognise risk before it becomes abuse, and act on it
- Respond properly in the first minute after a child discloses
- Record what they saw and heard so that it is usable later
- Make a report, and know the timescales they should expect
- Act on a concern about a colleague, including what protects them
- Explain what happens after a report, and their part afterwards

This is not the designated lead's training
Designated safeguarding leads, managers and registered persons need Level 3 training as well as this, not instead of it. They need Level 2 knowledge too, which is why they are welcome in the room.
How it is kept current
Content is checked against the current editions of Working Together to Safeguard Children and the Early Years Foundation Stage framework, and against published reviews, before each delivery cycle. The course carries a version number and a checked date.
Who delivers it
A Registered Mental Health Nurse with a live safeguarding caseload in NHS CAMHS, who also holds a PGCE. Not a generalist trainer working from a bought-in deck.
Assessment and evidence
Every delivery produces the paperwork an employer, a commissioner or an inspector will ask for. It is collected from the first course, not retrofitted later.

- Optional written reflective assessment for CPD or revalidation evidence

Fees
In-house delivery for your own team, at your site or online. Travel is included within Shropshire, Cheshire, Wrexham and Powys, and charged at cost beyond it. Where a commissioner funds a programme of courses, pricing is agreed for the programme rather than per course.

What this course is not
It is not Level 3, and it does not qualify anyone to investigate a concern, assess a family or decide whether a threshold is met. It is not a Welsh safeguarding course: settings in Wrexham, Powys and Flintshire work to the Wales Safeguarding Procedures, which use different words, a different reporting route and a fifth category of abuse. Blip runs a separate Wales edition for those settings.
